My 27th

Today was my 27th birthday... I spent most of the day at a workshop but then some people came over tonite to celebrate with me... Marie (and Bebe), Sheena, Hannah, Hailey, Ryan, Oronde, Lashay, Robin, and Mama Butler. James grilled chicken and we had pasta salad and ice cream cake. It was really special to have so many people around to celebrate with me, and EXTRA special that I had my sweet baby boy by my side. I wish that the rest of my family could have been with me, and I know if they could have been, they would have been! So thank you to everyone who made this birthday so special for me! I am ONE LUCKY GIRL!!! XOXOXO

Caleb was 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long! We can't wait to meet him and we know that he and PJ will be life-long friends, just like me and his mommy!

Also, PJ took a bath tonight SITTING UP! He LOVED IT! So much, in fact, that he soaked me and the floor kicking and splashing all over the place. I think it might be time to move him into the BIG tub!

My little Scooty Bug!

Tonight while James and I were playing with PJ in his room, he got up on his hands and knees and started rocking back and forth! Soon the days of laying him on the floor while he plays with toys will be over, and I will need to drink 2 sugar free Red Bulls per day instead of just one! :-)

Half of a year... Where has the time gone?

I can't believe how fast my baby boy is growing up! He is 6 months old today! It feels like just yesterday I gave birth to him. In another 6 short months we will be celebrating his 1st birthday. SO CRAZY!
This week he has moved up to stage 2 foods... He started eating them this past Tuesday. He tried apple sweet potatoes and apple vanilla mixed grain. He really liked both of them. I think apples are one of his favorite things. He starts grunting for more every time I feed them to him!!! He has also started crawling backwards... It will only be a matter of time before he takes off!
In celebration of his 6 months since birth, he also got his 1st haircut today! He looked like such a big boy sitting on daddy's lap with the barber cape around him. He didn't fuss at all!!! He just looked at the man, looked at James, and looked at me! He didn't even freak out when he turned on the shaver or blew the cut hair off of his neck and face!!! He looks so much older now!

Tonight we also received some sad news about a dear friend and colleague that I teach with at Oak Ridge. Betsy Thomas passed away today after battling cancer for the 2nd time. Betsy was an an angel, a light, and a source of inspiration to everyone she ever came in contact with. Every day at school she would greet me by saying, "Hello Bebe" and then would go on to ask about PJ, and life in general. The world has lost a wonderful educator and friend. She will be deeply missed and I know she is looking down on us and protecting us all! Rest in Peace, Betsy... Because I knew and loved you, I have been changed for good...

Hannah & Hailey's 1st Birthday Party!

Today was Hannah and Hailey's 1st birthday party! Mimi, Aunt Sissy, Brady and Layci came into town to celebrate with the girls! There actual birthday was on June 5th! The girls had so much fun!!! Check out all the details of their special day HERE!

PJ tried some new food today... squash and watermelon! He loved them both!!! After he ate his dinner, I put him in his excersaucer and sprinkled some puffs around. HE PICKED ONE UP AND ATE IT ON HIS OWN!!! This was the first time he did that! Such a big boy... Like my mom always says... DON'T BLINK!

My gift for Daddy...

Today was James' birthday! To celebrate, PJ decided to sit up all by himself! He put his hands on each side of him on the ground to steady himself. He was so proud!

We had some people over (last minute) to celebrate James' 28th. It turned out very nice. We had homemade baked ziti and cupcakes.

Happy Birthday to my BEST FRIEND! You are an amazing father and husband, and PJ and I couldn't be more lucky to have you in our lives! I look forward to celebrating your birthday for the rest of our lives!

Food, Glorious Food!

In the past week or so, PJ has been trying more and more foods. Added to his list, he has now tried pears, green beans and applesauce. I haven't found one thing that he truly dislikes!

Today, he started trying to pick up things up with his thumb and pointer finger, so I thought I would try to give him some Cheerios. He didn't know what to do with them, so I had to feed him. I am sure he will slowly get the hang of it... For now, I will enjoy this time where he wants me to feed him and needs my help!

One teeth, two teeth

When I got to work, I got a call from James... PJ got his first tooth (bottom left). I was so upset that I hadnn't seen it before I left! As soon as I knew he was at Sheena's, I called her and asked her to check... SURE ENOUGH- it was there!

As soon as I picked him up I checked out his mouth and could feel the razor sharp tooth poking through. That night when I gave him his dinner, I noticed something on the bottom right... Upon further inspection, I found out it was his BOTTOM RIGHT TOOTH! So, 2 teeth in one day... Let's hope his other teeth come in as smoothly as those did!!!

Just call me MA MA!

This afternoon when I was changing PJ's diaper, he all of the sudden said, "MA MA". Now I know he wasn't saying it toward me, but just to hear that, melted my heart. I am looking forward to the day he looks at me and says, "Mommy".

PJ also had his 1st vegetable today- CARROTS! I chose to give him those because they are more sweet than other vegetables. I have always HATED cooked carrots, so I am hoping that PJ will like them since they are good for you. He seemed to enjoy them, and some of them ended up on his clothes. I really need to get some of those plastic bibs so I don't ruin the other ones! :-)

Layci's 1st Birthday/Mother's Day

This past weekend we went down to South Florida for Layci's 1st birthday party! I can't believe she is already a year old! We went down on Thursday night and were able to stay until Monday, which meant we all celebrated Mother's Day together as well.

On Friday, I finally took the plunge and chopped my hair off! I was a little disappointed at first, and was missing my hair, but now I love it. It takes less than 10 minutes to blowdry!!! That night we went to Hunter and Savannah's LAX picnic. There was music and food and PJ really enjoyed being outside!

Saturday was the big party day!!! In the morning we went to Hunter's last LAX game of the season, and PJ got a little sunburned! That South Florida sun will get you even when you are in the shade!

Layci had a blast at her party! She loved her cake that her mommy made for her, and played in the pool that PJ got her! Everything turned out just perfect for our little princess!

Aunt Sissy also gave PJ a little taste of the homemade icing, and he thought it was YUMMY! For dinner, PJ tried his first fruit- mashed up bananas... definitely a favorite for him.

Later in the afternoon, when the sun went down a little, James and I took PJ in the pool. HE LOVED IT! He was kicking his legs and smiling and laughing! We put him in Brady's float toy and pulled him around the pool a little bit.

Sunday was Layci's actual birthday, which also happened to be Mother's Day. What a wonderful gift for my sister! :-) We made sausage, egg and cheese casseroles, as well as, french toast casserole, and James went out and brought us Starbucks and some bagels from our favorite bagel shop. He and PJ got me cards and a beautiful pink orchid plant. It was so wonderful to be around my husband, son, and the rest of my family. We had a bar-be-que that night which was the perfect ending to a perfect family weekend.

PJ and I on my 1st Mother's Day!

Front to back and front again

Up to this point, PJ was only able to roll back to front. He would roll himself over onto his belly and then SCREAM because he couldn't roll back to his back. Well today he was finally able to roll every which way. My little monkey is offically a roly-poly!

4th month checkup

Today was PJ's 4 month checkup. He had to get more shots which he was not too happy about. Unie had the day off, so we didn't get to see her at his appointment. :(

He weighs 16 pounds, 5 ounces and is 26 inches long!!! Dr. Judy said he is in the 75th percentile for height and weight!!! She also said that he is not overweight, and his height and weight are perfect for each other! That was good to hear! She also told us that we could try to give him rice cereal! He was less than pleased when I tried to give it to him because he was not used to it! He screamed all the way through. Hopefully the more he gets it, the more he will like it!

1st boat ride- St. Marks

Today we went on the Hunter's boat with Mr. and Mrs. Hunter and Karen. It was PJ's 1st time on a boat and he had a blast! We went to St. Marks and Mr. Hunter drove very slow so he wouldn't scare the baby. The water was kind of choppy, so we didn't stay out very long.

On the way home, Karen drove with us, so I rode in the back with PJ. I was talking to him and tickling him, and then I heard it... HIS FIRST GIGGLE! He was laughing so hard at me... It was one of those belly laughs from deep down and completely melted my heart!

PJ ROLLED OVER!!!

When I went in to peek at PJ this morning before I left for work, this is how I found him...

He rolled over in his sleep, so we missed his first time doing it!!! Regardless, I am proud that my sweet baby boy had yet another milestone!

Also, in other news, Suvali Parag Patel was born last night at 10:24 PM. She was 6 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 1/4 inches long. We went by TMH to meet her today!!! Pj is happy his friend is here safe and sound, and that Suvali's mommy and daddy are doing GREAT!

Happy Easter!

Today was PJ's 1st Easter and we had the BEST day! The munchkin woke up around 7:30 and was H.U.N.G.R.Y!!!! After he ate, we showed him the baskets that the Easter Bunny left for him...

He played with some of his new toys and made himself so sleepy it was time for a nap!!! When he woke up, he watched Mommy and Daddy decorate Easter eggs for him....
Everything is all setup....
The eggs are colored....

All finished!!!
After we finished our egg decorating we took PJ to the park by our house. We went on a nice walk and found some picnic tables to sit at. Daddy took PJ around the park some more and mommy read her new book and enjoyed the warm sun and cool, spring breeze!

When we got home, we spent some time outside and then it was time for PJ to take a nap! While he napped, we worked on some things in the back yard. We had a fabulous dinner: ham, green beans, biscuits, salad, key lime pie... We played for a bit in PJ's room and mommy worked on his baby book. We decided to make his hand and foot print in this cool kit that Jessica gave us!!! After that, it was time for bath and bed! It was a WONDERFUL day!

My baby boy...

slept in his crib for the first time last night!!! Part of me wished he would cry a bit so I could get him and keep him near me... but he didn't... Just another sign that my sweet baby boy isn't so little anymore.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today is the day that PJ was named after... His grandma was born today and her name was Patricia. James' was given the middle name Patrick after his mom.... and PJ was named after his daddy!!! Confusing??? :-)

My sweet 3 month old...

I can't believe 3 months has gone by already! PJ has changed so much and is getting bigger everyday! He is so close to rolling over and is smiling at everything! He loves bath time and is sleeping through the night! We have not yet moved him into his crib yet... I am just not ready yet!

Now for the part you really want to see.... PICTURES! (All of these pictures were taken in the past 2 days!)

Back to work...

Well, Monday was officially my 1st day back at work! It went better than I expected. My students were so happy to see me and very well behaved! James dropped PJ off at Sheena's in the AM and she was so awesome all day because she sent me pictures of everything PJ was doing! (Will try to post later) I was so excited to go pick him up, and when I got there and he woke up, he was ALL SMILES! :-)

Gonna go spend some time with little man before it's bath/bed time.... Plus, my brother and his wife are coming in town tonight and I have some straightening up to do...
